My name is Dave Fravel and I’m a professional software developer and occasional marathon runner.

I’ve developed contact management solutions for databases ranging from 100 customers to 2 million prospects. In addition, I've written custom event registration software that has been used for over 100 tradeshows and associations including:

I’ve also run 2 marathons, 3 ½ marathons, 5 Falmouth Road Races and a ton of local 5 and 10Ks.

Why do I write software?

Sadly, there isn’t a big market for 4-hour marathoners. I’ll never get an appearance check, and with a wife, three kids, 2 dogs, a cat and a fish, I have a few expenses. Honestly, I love writing software. I love the customer interaction, determining the problems and developing the solutions. I love taking a 75 column excel spreadsheet that has become a nightmare to manage and transform it into a meaningful web application.

Why 20Mile Technologies? Why not 26Mile Technologies?

If you’ve ever run a marathon (26.2 miles), you know that it’s not fun. Seriously, it’s miserable. Physically, you suffer. Mentally, you question everything about yourself – your sanity, your reasons for living, your reason to keep putting one foot in front of the other. It’s an amazing experience, but it’s anything but fun. The real fun is the training – speed work at the track, hill repeats and long runs with friends. It was on one of those long runs that I came up with the name for my company. I knew that if I could finish that 20-mile run, I could do anything.

Where do I run?

I live in Cotuit, MA, so most of my time is spent running near the ocean.
